Virtual Card Services Namibia (Pty) Ltd., previously known as DPO Pay Namibia, has officially changed its name and will now function under the title Network International (Network).
This adjustment comes after obtaining regulatory clearances and ensures the local entity is in line with its parent company, a prominent fintech business operating in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.
Network International provides a full range of payment solutions and services, allowing local businesses and financial organizations to easily accept and handle transactions. The company emphasizes its three-decade track record of establishing enduring partnerships with numerous top merchants, financial institutions, and payment collaborators.
A significant agreement in the African payment sector saw Network take full ownership of DPO Group in 2021. This move expanded Network's presence across 21 countries on the continent, positioning it among the fastest-growing payment companies globally. It also strengthened Network's role as a key player in creating and managing credit, debit, and smart card processing systems for all major card issuers in Southern Africa.
"DPO Pay has now become part of Network, and we are thrilled about this transition. For our merchants and customers, this means they will keep experiencing the same top-notch services, while we now have additional resources to drive innovation and offer customized solutions in the market. Our goal is to create and improve secure and personalized payment experiences. This change enables us to achieve exactly that," said Mpho Sadiki, Group Managing Director for Merchant Services – Africa (excluding Egypt), Network International.
Namibia has recently undergone a rebranding, similar to Kenya's efforts at the end of last year. This initiative aims to improve access to QR codes, card transactions, and mobile payment options.
The network's goal is to assist merchants, whether they run online or brick-and-mortar stores, by delivering a smooth and safe payment process. It provides various payment options that help businesses easily accept payments, enabling them to concentrate on expansion while making transactions simpler for their clients. From processing payments to reconciliation and reporting, the network offers comprehensive solutions that boost efficiency, enhance cash flow, and contribute to business success.
According to the UN Development Programme's 2023 Report on Digital Financing for Sustainable Development, The digital financial landscape in Namibia has reached 81% ownership of financial accounts, with 77% of individuals maintaining accounts at financial institutions and 71% utilizing digital payment methods. This highlights the potential for Network to utilize its current services to boost further adoption.
The firm's funding also corresponds with theNamibia's Financial Sector Transformation Strategy (NFSTS) for 2024–2034, which seeks to foster a joint initiative with the industry to build a modern payment system that will advance the country's financial sector. By facilitating simpler access to digital payment options, Network is backing the efforts of The Bank of Namibia and the Payments Association of Namibia (PAN) to promote compatibility.
