Feyiase (Ash), Pct. 02, GNA – The Mid-Ghana Union Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church (SDA) has broken ground for the building of a 220-bed retreat center in Feyiase, located within the Bekwai Municipality.
The vibrant and innovative inauguration, taking place on a large 79-acre site, gathered church leaders, customary figures, builders, and locals to observe what was termed a significant endeavor for both the church and the residents of Feyiase.
Pastor (Dr.) Kwame Annor Boahen, head of the Mid-Ghana Union Conference, mentioned during the event that the project was given to Asumadu Construction Works Limited, a local company.
He stated that once finished, the facility would function as a versatile hub for the church, offering space for camp gatherings, seminars, workshops, and educational initiatives.
Dr. Boahen added that the project was not only intended to serve as a retreat center but also as an additional campus for Valley View University, where a medical school would be set up to educate healthcare professionals.
"The initial stage of the project, anticipated to be finished in 12 months, will provide a hostel with 220 beds to start functioning," Dr. Boahen stated.
He mentioned that numerous church auxiliary groups, organizations, and involved parties have already committed their backing for the effective implementation of the project.
From his side, Mr. Michael Oti Mensah, an Engineer and the CEO of Asumadu Construction Works Limited, pledged the church to deliver high-quality work and finish the project on time.
He urged the people of Feyiase to assist in the project by protecting the building supplies and machinery at the location, highlighting that theft and destruction would merely slow down the development of the center.
I call on all residents to take action and ensure that this crucial project is finished on time.
"This facility is intended for the church and the broader community," Mr. Oti Mensah emphasized.
He also conveyed deep appreciation to the SDA Mid-Ghana Union Conference for the confidence placed in his business and promised to exceed expectations.
In a message of goodwill, Nana Osei Tutu, the leader of Feyiase, referred to the day as a significant and happy event for the residents of Feyiase.
He praised the SDA Church for selecting his community for such a significant advancement and encouraged the contractor to focus on hiring the young people from Feyiase during the construction phase.
"The project must not only change the SDA Church but also create chances for my people, particularly the young men and women who are keen to work," the leader said.
The Adventist Retreat Centre, once finished, is anticipated to enhance spiritual growth, learning, and economic opportunities in the Bekwai Municipality and surrounding areas.
