Eggs from two states are being quickly recalled due to concerns about harmful bacteria.
Black Sheep Egg Enterprise ofArkansashas voluntarily withdrawn its 12-pack and 18-pack boxes of Free Range Large Grade A Brown Eggs following the discovery of salmonella contamination at a processing facility by health officials.
Salmonella is a highly dangerous form of bacteriathat disgusts more than 1 million Americans annually and causes bloody diarrhea, stomach cramps, and vomiting.
Products impacted had 'best-by' dates between August 22 and October 31, 2025. They were sent to other unidentified companies in Arkansas andMissourifrom July 9 to September 17, 2025, which could have involved rebranding them.
The items feature the UPC codes 860010568507 and 860010568538.
No diseases have been documented, and therecallis not associated with 'an ongoing outbreak' of salmonella, according to theFDA.
The recall began following FDA inspectors collecting samples from equipment and surfaces at an Arkansas facility operated by Black Sheep Egg Company. Out of these, 40 samples tested positive for seven distinct types of salmonella, some of which are known to lead to human illness.
The FDA cautioned that although the items have been taken off the shelves, customers might still have them in their refrigerators.


The organization stated: 'Customers, dining establishments, and merchants are advised not to consume, distribute, or present the recalled Free Range Large Grade A Brown Eggs, available in 12-count boxes or 18-count boxes, with Best By dates ranging from 8/22/2025 to 10/31/2025 printed on the carton's side.'
Salmonella typically resides in foods that have been tainted by animal waste and is particularly prevalent in poultry, beef, milk, eggs, seafood, fruits, and vegetables.
Another company, Country Eggs, LLC, alsoissued a egg recall earlier this yearafter it was discovered that the products were contaminated with salmonella.
The current outbreak has affected 95 individuals and led to the hospitalization of 18 people in 14 states.
Each year, 1.3 million Americans are affected by Salmonella, leading to hospitalization for 26,500 individuals and resulting in approximately 400 deaths.
Nevertheless, since salmonella frequently does not produce any symptoms and remains undetected, the actual number of cases is probably significantly higher.


Symptoms such as bloody diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps may appear between six hours and six days following the initial infection, as stated by the CDC.
In contrast to most bacteria, certain types of salmonella can endure the stomach's acidic environment and move into the intestines after being ingested.
Upon arrival, they dig into the cells that line the organ, leading to inflammation, diarrhea, stomach cramps, and a rise in temperature. The bacteria can also infiltrate the bloodstream and spread to other parts of the body.
