
In Katra (Jammu and Kashmir), on June 7th (ANI), State Minister Satish Sharma announced that the recently inaugurated railway bridge across the Chenab River by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a longstanding requirement. According to him, citizens of Jammu and Kashmir prioritize progress, and this anticipated initiative should stimulate tourism. Speaking with ANI regarding the opening ceremony of the Chenab railroad bridge held one day prior, Mr. Sharma mentioned: “Nowadays, the Kashmir valley is linked with the remainder of the nation. We've worked hard for many years towards achieving this objective.” He congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for their efforts toward realizing this achievement. "Residents of Jammu and Kashmir value advancement,” he added. "This event will encourage more visitors, create jobs, and simplify fruit exports like apples among others throughout various regions within the country." Regarding terrorism concerns, Mr. Sharma stated firmly: “Our position remains clear; whereas we support tourism, those opposing us propagate violence.” During his tour around Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally opened what can be considered globally as the most elevated railway arch structure spanning the river Chenab. Known as an architectural masterpiece, located approximately 359 meters above water level, this steel-built arched span stretches up to 1,315 meters and complies with high standards ensuring safety under extreme weather elements including earthquakes and strong winds. Significant benefits arising out of this venture include improved transport links between Jammu and Srinagar cities. With the launch of Vande Bharat express services running atop these structures, journey times could decrease drastically down to merely three hours compared to previous durations ranging six-seven hours via conventional routes. Altaf Thakur, representing BJP party leadership commented enthusiastically upon witnessing inaugural runs of these advanced passenger carriages saying: "A cherished aspiration came true today! Long awaited connections promised better accessibility leading potentially higher influxes of travelers visiting Kashmir en masse post-modernization drives implemented successfully hereafter." Addressing broader geopolitical tensions surrounding cross-border conflicts particularly involving neighboring Pakistan, both officials reiterated firm stances advocating peaceful pursuits rather than militant activities disrupting regional stability significantly impacting local economies reliant heavily on seasonal visitor flows. Prior to cutting ribbons marking official openings ceremonies conducted ceremoniously amidst festive gatherings attended widely by political dignitaries alongside common folk alike expressing joyous sentiments reflecting shared aspirations towards brighter futures ahead driven strongly by robust infrastructure developments spearheaded effectively at national levels fostering unity amongst diverse communities inhabiting vast territories constituting modern-day India. Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link The USBRL project, which spans 272 kilometers and has been built at an approximate cost of Rs 43,780 crore, comprises 36 tunnels (covering 119 kilometers) and 943 bridges. This initiative ensures year-round, uninterrupted railway connection between the Kashmir Valley and the remainder of India, with the aim of revolutionizing local transportation and fostering socioeconomic cohesion.
