Accra, May 21, GNA - The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has urged the public to reach out to their emergency numbers for help with rescues and evacuations during flood-related emergencies.
The hotlines are 0291713235, 0299340383, 0299340643, 0299340998, 0302772446, 0302779637, 0303959561, and the nationwide emergency contact number is 112.
In an announcement relayed to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) by Mr. Desmond Ackah, who leads public relations efforts, he mentioned that this warning comes after Sunday's intense rainfall impacted sections of Accra such as Adenta and East Legon.
The heavy rains caused flooding in several communities, leaving residents trapped and resulting in a fatalities count of five.
The GNFS emergency response units are standing by and ready to address any crises.
It warned against venturing through increasing water levels by car or foot, noting: If you find yourself trapped, please contact us right away at 112 / 0302772446 / 0299340383.
