After spending time in an infested hotel room, a woman ended up with over 30 irritated and red bite marks covering her skin.
Sharon Aggarwal, aged 53, locked herself in the bathroom for two hours after waking up in the middle of the night "scratching" at a three-star hotel in Henley-on-Thames.
The information technology employee, who often journeys to the charming village in Oxfordshire for her job, mentioned that when she removed the bedding, she noticed multiple insects "scuttling across the mattress."
Mrs Aggarwal mentioned that she crushed a big one on the pillow and was shocked to see blood squirt out.
A 53-year-old individual hailing from the Midlands was residing at The Catherine Wheel last month—a historically significant 12th-century inn and lodging facility currently under the ownership of JD Wetherspoon.
Mrs Aggarwal told MailOnline: 'I suddenly woke up in the middle of the night - all itchy.
'I pulled the sheet back and all I could see were these things crawling on the bed. It was pretty gross. I squished on of them and blood spurted out onto me.
After hearing about them constantly on the news a few years back, I thought, uh-oh, I recognize what this is.

I examined my hand and noticed several bite marks. There was also a rather large one on the pillow. It made me think, “Oh God, that was right next to my head.”
At this juncture, I simply entered the bathroom and closed the door behind me. It was approximately 3 am in the dead of night. I remained inside until about 5 am when dawn began to break.
I was covered with bites all over. There were about two on my face, three or four on my neck, and another three near the waistband of my pajamas.
'So roughly ten on one side and about seven or eight on the other.'
Mrs Aggarwal stated that the bites were unlike anything she had ever encountered previously, and the itchiness began to ease off only after she visited the pharmacist.
I have experienced mosquito bites before, but these ones were exceptionally itchier.
'I developed large welts on my face, so I visited the pharmacist for some antihistamines.'
'I needed to administer them at six-hour intervals.'

Mrs. Aggarwal mentioned that she successfully trapped one of the bedbugs beneath a pint glass and demonstrated it to the night porter at The Catherine Wheel.
She mentioned that she reached out to the JD Wetherspoon customer support hotline to voice her concerns and even penned a note which she left at the front desk upon checking out.
"I didn’t receive any response from the Catherine Wheel for a long time. While it may not be as luxurious as the Ritz, I would hope that it at least maintains cleanliness," she stated.
This hotel is quite popular, particularly during the bustling summer season ahead. They will be hosting events like the Henley Regatta and Festival.
The hotel responded to my inquiry and acknowledged having bedbugs in the room, though they were unable to locate them.
I mentioned that sleeping in the bed would lead you to discover them. I also learned that environmental health authorities are looking into the situation and plan to eliminate the pests.
I've received feedback from Wetherspoons, and they have proposed to compensate me for both the stay and the accommodation.
A representative from Wetherspoon's verified the existence of bedbugs in the chamber and stated that it was "instantly removed from service."

He stated: "On May 6, we received information from a hotel guest about the possible existence of bedbugs in her room."
This confirmation came following her exit, and subsequently, the room was promptly removed from service.
We are communicating directly with the guest involved to address her concerns. Similar to other hotel operators, Wetherspoon’s has established protocols in place to reduce this issue.
These entail routine inspections conducted by skilled personnel during housekeeping of hotel rooms and periodic preventive maintenance by certified contractors, making instances like this infrequent.
