A bomb disposal unit has arrived at a shopping center in Ireland after a shooting incident resulted in one death and left a child wounded.
Emergency services report being dispatched to Fairgreen Shopping Centre in Carlow town at approximately 6:15 pm today, with a perimeter still maintained around the area.
The Gardai, an ambulance, and the fire services are present at the location where a helicopter was observed circling above.
A representative from the Garda force informed MailOnline: "The Gardaí are presently attending an incident at a retail location in Carlow town. The alert was initiated just after 6:15 pm."

'The area has been cleared of personnel and the site remains protected. Assistance from the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit has been sought. Currently, there is no ongoing threat to public security.'
'Individuals who might have captured video footage of the event are advised against sharing it on social media platforms or messaging applications. Instead, they should submit it to the Gardaí at Carlow Garda Station.'
