Colombo, May 28 — Recently, the Sri Lanka Navy collaborated with the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Department to conduct training programs at Cod Bay and Valachchenai Fisheries Harbors. These initiatives were aimed at improving safety measures and emergency readiness within local fishing communities. Meanwhile, developments in Sri Lankan tourism continue to be observed.

Under the Naval Social Responsibility programs, the Eastern Naval Command Hospital organized a Basic Life Support (BLS) and Field Triage course. This training sought to provide fishermen with essential knowledge in fundamental first aid techniques, crisis intervention methods, strategies for preventing both communicable and non-communicable diseases, substance abuse education, psychological well-being recognition, and public health instruction. These skills ensure their readiness to handle maritime emergencies proficiently.
