A Muslim pilgrim named Hajiya Jamila Muhammad from Plateau State has passed away in Mecca.

Mr. Daiyabu Dauda, the Executive Secretary of the State’s Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, revealed this information in a statement provided to journalists on Tuesday in Jos.

He stated that the pilgrim passed away on Monday at the King Abdul'aziz Hospital in Mecca as a result of complications related to diabetes.

As soon as the complications started, we promptly took her to the hospital for appropriate treatment in line with our responsibility.

"Sadly, we lost her, and the doctors at the hospital confirmed that the cause was complications related to diabetes," he stated.

He mentioned that the departed was interred in Mecca following Islamic customs.

Dauda passed away seven days following the death of a 75-year-old female pilgrim from Edo State, Mrs. Danzumi Adizatu, who had also perished in Mecca.

The individual from Jattu Uzairue, within the Etsako West Local Government Area of the state, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025, at King Fahad General Hospital in Makkah, following a short ailment.

On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, the chairman of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Musah Muhammad Uduimoh, shared via a WhatsApp voice message the announcement of her passing.

He stated, "Mrs. Adizatu was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, May 25, 2025, after performing Tawaaf due to a brief ailment and passed away from her condition the next day."

Following Islamic customs, Mrs. Adizatu was laid to rest in Makkah on thesame evening she died.

The Chairperson of the Board has subsequently reached out to her relatives in Jattu Uzairue to apprise them of the unfortunate turn of events.
