The passengers aboard an aircraft experienced sheer panic when the cabin became engulfed in smoke shortly after takeoff due to an explosion from a power bank roughly 15 minutes into the flight.
The video revealed that passengers were Panicked as dense, pungent smoke started pouring from an overhead compartment.
Individuals were overheard yelling at each other, only to discover upon inspection that a passenger's camera battery and power bank were burning inside a locker.
A flight attendant arrived carrying a tiny fire extinguisher to douse the flames.
The event occurred on China South Airlines Flight CZ6850 from Hangzhou to Shenzhen in China scheduled for Saturday, May 31.
The airplane's captain had to turn back to Hangzhou International Airport following an incident where a passenger's power bank caught fire soon after departure.
A representative from the airline stated: "The crew responded appropriately and swiftly resolved the safety concern. For the sake of security, the aircraft promptly turned back towards the airport and touched down without incident just 15 minutes following departure."
The representative also mentioned that there were no injuries and that the airline would assist all passengers impacted by the delay.



The airline additionally urged customers to adhere to aviation safety rules to avoid such incidents in the future.
Early this year, other Asian airlines Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air said that passengers are now not allowed to use lithium-based powerbanks aboard their planes .
Many airlines across the world have banned the use of the devices on their planes in recent years due to the risk they carry of igniting unexpectedly.
Passengers must remove these items from their carry-on luggage and keep them in sight throughout the process.
