President Donald Trump of the U.S. has issued an executive order prohibiting citizens from 12 nations from entering the country.

Trump cited a recent attack in Colorado over the weekend to justify the decision, claiming the incident highlights the " extreme dangers " raised by individuals from abroad residing in American territory.

" We won't permit individuals intending to cause us harm to enter our nation. ," the president said.

The nations impacted by the ban include: Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.

Individuals from Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela may encounter some limitations.

The president declared that the United States needs to guarantee that people entering the nation do not have a " an unfriendly stance towards our people, our cultural values, our governing bodies, our established systems, and the core ideals upon which we were founded. ”

In his earlier tenure, Trump had previously enforced a contentious travel restriction aimed at multiple Muslim-majority nations.
