This summer, Vietnam has emerged as one of the top-five sought-after destinations among European tourists in Asia, thanks largely to more lenient visa regulations, reveals a new study conducted by Agoda, an online travel service provider.

In April 2025, when looking at accommodation inquiries made through Agoda with check-in dates scheduled from July to August, Thailand led the rankings, closely trailed by Indonesia, Japan, and Malaysia.

France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, and Norway saw the most searches for trips to Vietnam.

Vietnam has attracted interest from various developing nations such as Hungary, where search inquiries spiked by 320% relative to the previous year. Similarly, Turkey witnessed an uptick of 288%, and Poland experienced a growth of 153%.

This underscores Vietnam's increasing presence on Europe's tourist landscape.

Effective from March 1, Vietnam has eliminated visa requirements for travelers from Poland, Czech Republic, and Switzerland who enter the country as part of packaged trips lasting up to 45 days.

In mid-March, the government extended visa-free travel privileges until 2028 for residents of 12 nations including Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

The exemption had lapsed on March 15.

According to Agonda, European travelers are attracted to Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi because these destinations offer a mix of stunning landscapes, rich culture, and lively cityscapes.

Vu Ngoc Lam, who leads Agoda operations in Vietnam, noted that the nation has become a premier summer getaway spot for European tourists due to its deep-rooted cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes, and enhanced ease of access.
