Between January and May, Vietnam welcomed 9.2 million international tourists, marking a 21% rise compared to the previous year and 15% more than the corresponding period before the pandemic in 2019.

Even though the peak tourist season had concluded, May still witnessed 1.53 million international visitors, which is the highest figure for that month in the last ten years, as reported by the General Statistics Office.

During the January-May period, Mainland China continued to be the leading source of visitors with 2.36 million arrivals, trailed by South Korea (1.9 million), Taiwan (532,000), the United States (375,000), and Japan (342,000).

During the five-month period, Russia showed the greatest increase, with visitor numbers jumping up 221% compared to the previous year.

The Philippines saw over 200% growth, Cambodia experienced more than 160%, and India achieved over 134%.

Experts in tourism attribute the robust performance to beneficial visa regulations, increased promotional efforts, and a range of events organized to commemorate significant national holidays.
