NSCDC expands FCT security with new outpost

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps' Federal Capital Territory Command officially opened a new divisional base at Leisure Court Estate in Lugbe on Friday, with the goal of increasing security presence and boosting emergency response throughout the FCT.

The latest base, provided by the Real Estate Developer, Leisure Court Ltd, signified the third such establishment introduced during the tenure of FCT Commandant Dr. Olusola Odumosu.

Following previous assignments in Bwari and Kwali, the Lugbe station marks a move towards decentralizing security efforts and broadening the corps' presence in rapidly expanding suburban areas.

The establishment of this base is more than just marking the completion of a structure; it represents our commitment to building a safer space for all residents in the FCT, no matter where they live.

Due to urbanization and the swift increase in population, the issues related to security have grown more complicated. We now encounter new dangers that demand creative and forward-thinking approaches.

This base is located in a key position to quickly address safety issues and to interact with the local population efficiently.

"It will act as a foundation for our officers to oversee operations in the region, assist in community watch initiatives, and encourage collaboration between the NSCDC and the communities we support," Odumosu stated at the inauguration event.

As Abuja's population grows quickly and security issues change, the NSCDC stated it is shifting to a more forward-thinking, community-based approach to law enforcement.

The Lugbe base will act as a local hub for monitoring, community policing, and prompt identification of criminal activities in the region.

Odumosu highlighted that the organization is committed to remaining ahead of dangers by integrating security systems directly into at-risk neighborhoods.

In our pursuit of improving safety, we understand that involving the community is essential. By working together, we can establish a strong alliance that helps us identify and stop crimes before they happen.

By means of different awareness initiatives, and consistent communication with communities, and interested parties, our goal is to enhance the connection between the NSCDC and the people we are committed to safeguarding.

I would also like to recognize the efforts and hard work of every staff member involved in the daily security operations in the FCT. Your devotion to your responsibilities and contribution to society is admirable. I encourage all officers and personnel who will be stationed here to uphold the fundamental principles of honesty, professionalism, and commitment.

"Our achievement is judged not solely on our capacity to handle emergencies but also on our efforts to inform and enable the public regarding their part in ensuring safety," he stated.

As the organization expands its facilities throughout Abuja, Odumosu urged locals, involved parties, and related agencies to enhance cooperation with the NSCDC.

As we begin this new phase, I urge each stakeholder and community member to come together with us in our effort to create a secure FCT.

Let us collaborate closely to establish a safe atmosphere where each individual can flourish without anxiety. As one, we can develop a strong society that endures the passage of time.

"In conclusion, let me emphasize our dedication to serving the country and maintaining the values of the NSCDC. As we officially launch this security post, I assure you that it will serve as a symbol of security, hope, safety, and community partnership," he added.
