The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has marked a significant achievement in its activities by releasing its Annual Procurement Plan through the Kenyan government's Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) platform.
The statement was released on October 2, 2025, in Nairobi, representing what KAA refers to as a major move towards synchronizing with the government's continuous digital transformation initiative and the president's order for the complete implementation of the e-GP system.
As per KAA, the implementation of the e-GP system transforms the entire purchasing process, facilitating a paper-free and open workflow from planning through to the granting of contracts.
The official stated that the updated system improves responsibility and reinforces its dedication to adherence and ethical practices in providing services.
The Acting Managing Director of KAA, Dr Mohamud Gedi, highlighted the significance of the accomplishment, referring to the breadth of the authority's activities.
"Securing this achievement was no minor task, given that our activities cover 19 directorates and more than 147 cost centers. This success highlights our collective commitment to operational excellence throughout the Authority," he stated.
The head of the KAA Board, Caleb Kositany, commended the decision, noting that it highlights the organization's commitment to openness and effectiveness.
"By implementing the e-GP system and releasing our Annual Procurement Plan online, we are embracing new ideas to boost efficiency and openness. This platform builds confidence and provides our vendors with a more efficient procurement process," he said.
The officials showed gratitude to the groups responsible for the system's effective implementation. Specifically, KAA acknowledged its purchasing team, headed by Mr. Vincent Korir, along with other internal personnel throughout the organization.
It also recognized contributors from the National Treasury, led by Mr. Jared Onyango, for their support and knowledge.
KAA requested suppliers and service providers to sign up and get acquainted with the e-GP platform. The organization mentioned that from now on, all purchasing activities with KAA will take place solely via this system.
The implementation of the e-GP system, as stated by KAA, highlights its ongoing dedication to governmental changes designed to improve transparency, effectiveness, and the standard of services provided to Kenyan citizens.
The system aims to enhance access to procurement processes, minimize delays, and strengthen monitoring within one of Kenya's most essential government departments.
As procurement plays a vital role in public sector management, KAA stated that the adjustment will also foster confidence among vendors and contractors, facilitating more efficient collaboration in its initiatives.
At the conclusion, the organization emphasized that the new system is crucial for fulfilling its responsibilities in alignment with the government's digital strategy.
"Setting our sights high" continues to be the institution's slogan, and with this move towards digital procurement, KAA establishes itself as a pioneer in embracing innovation within the transportation and infrastructure industry.
